Miniature Southdown Coach at Peter Pan's Playground, Madiera Drive, Brighton.-1950's? Cousins Jill and David @ back.
The Johnstone Family used to own and operate these miniature Southdown coaches. I used to work at Peter Pans on the weekends, 1957 to 59, and became good friends with the Johnstones, their eldest son, Tony, and I dated. I used to love to skate at the Peter Pans outdoor roller rink next to them.
Great pleasure to find this photo; actually one of my most treasured childhood memories! Many thanks for posting it.
Does anyone remember the jungle train (I think it was called that) there was a train of animals starting with two elephants with a seat inside the heads. I have a picture of my sister and I taken about 1952. I think it was in Peter Pans playground.
Does anyone remember the Austin Joy cars driven by an electric motor that were in Peter Pan's Playground around this time?
The driver of the small bus is my grandfather Arthur H Tiltman, who lived in Preston Park, Brighton. I think I could be the girl sitting in front of him.
Hi I really love the photo of the family in the bus. I work for a bus company and would love to use this for a marketing campaign - can anyone help? I want to engage new audiences by reminding them of the fun and romance of the past.
These mini coaches were made, I believe,by Harringtons Coach Builders of Hove
